Penguins are a perfect example of monogamy. Rich Lowry.
Once a penguin finds its perfect partner, they stay together forever. (c)
Penguins are living lessons in caring for the earth and its creatures, in all their beauty and vulnerability.
It is hard to be unhappy in the company of penguins.
“Penguins are lovely creatures, amazing and beautiful in their own way. Fluffy, fat, clumsy, these birds cause a lot of positive impressions.
The origin of the word penguin has 3 versions. The first involves a combination of the Welsh words pen (head) and gwyn (white), which originally referred to the now extinct wingless auk. Due to the similarity of the penguin with this bird, the definition was transferred to it. According to the second variant, the name of the penguin was given by the English word pinwing, which means “wing-stile”. The third version is the Latin adjective pinguis, meaning "fat." Penguins are afraid of killer whales, and naturally - the latter enthusiastically hunt them. When penguins do not know if their natural enemy is nearby, they crowd on the edge of the ice for a long time until the bravest member of the pack dares to dive. If he survives, the others follow. Not all penguins live in polar latitudes. Galapagos penguins, for example, live on the islands of the same name, but there the average annual temperature is about 18 degrees Celsius. The largest penguins in the world are emperor penguins. This is the largest and heaviest penguin: the weight of the male reaches 40 kg with a body length of 117-130 cm, the females are somewhat smaller - with a growth of 113-115 cm, they weigh an average of 32 kg. Ten months a year out of twelve they live in Antarctica. The smallest penguin in the world is the Small Penguin: the bird has a height of 30-40 cm and a weight of about 1 kg. Penguins live on the coast of South Australia, in Tasmania, New Zealand and on the adjacent islands - Stewart and Chatham. Penguins really do not freeze in cold water due to a thick layer of fat and tightly fitting feathers. Polar species of penguins are able to withstand temperatures up to -60 degrees The legs of penguins also do not freeze, because the number of nerve endings in them is minimal. Emperor penguins are single-minded and pair for life. Penguins are very sensitive to their eggs. One day, a group of geologists stole an egg from them in order to eat it, but a flock of penguins began to pursue them. No, no plot for a horror movie - penguins just silently followed people. The geologists decided to give them the egg, after which the chase stopped. Papuan penguins swim at a speed of over 35 kilometers per hour. On slippery ice, penguins often move, lying on their stomach and repelling from the surface with their wings and paws. With this method of movement, penguins develop a speed of 3 to 6 km / h. Penguins prefer to fish in the upper layers of water. In search of food, penguins are able to spend a lot of time under water, diving into its thickness for 3 meters and overcoming distances of 25-27 km. The speed of a penguin in water can reach 7-10 km per hour. Some species dive to a depth of 120-130 meters. During the period when penguins are not concerned with mating games and caring for their offspring, they are quite far away from the shore, swimming out to sea for a distance of up to 1000 km. Penguins are the only birds in the world that can walk upright. Not all penguins are harmless cute. Stone penguins, for example, are quite aggressive in nature. They can easily attack any object that they do not like. Once a year, penguins grow new feathers, getting rid of old ones. During molting, penguins are only on land, try to hide from wind gusts and eat absolutely nothing. Penguins do not need fresh water – they are able to drink salty sea water, as special glands in their body filter salt. Emperor penguins hunt on average once every two weeks, eating to the dump. During this break, they can lose up to half of their mass. In penguin packs, experienced old males teach young to hunt. The most common penguins in the world are golden hair. There are about twenty million of them. Penguins are collective birds. In the water element, they are kept in flocks, on land they form colonies, the number of individuals in which reaches several tens and even hundreds of thousands. All members of the penguin family are monogamous and form permanent pairs. In emperor penguins, eggs are hatched not by females, but by males. Usually 2 eggs appear in the masonry, sometimes one, very rarely three. The penguin egg has a white or slightly greenish color. Both parents incubate eggs, replacing each other during absences for food. The incubation period lasts from 30 to 100 days, depending on the species of bird. Penguin chicks hatch blind, with thick down on the body, and see only after a couple of weeks. The weight of a newborn penguin varies by species and can reach 300 grams. Despite the care of parents, more than 60% of the chicks die from hunger, cold temperatures and attacks of pomorrhages. Expressing tender feelings, the male spectacle penguin carefully strokes his female on the head with a wing. Penguins only seem clumsy. Yes, on land it is, but in the water they are surprisingly agile and agile creatures. Antarctic penguins build their nests using rocks and earth as building materials. The least of all penguins love water is the magnificent penguins. They spend most of their lives on land. All penguins have their backs painted black. This allows you to better attract all the heat - black color, as you know, contributes to heat. On land, the penguin is very clumsy and quite often, sharply tilting his head back, loses his balance and falls on his back. From this position, the bird can no longer rise on its own, so an amazing profession has appeared at many polar stations - picking up penguins, or flipping penguins. This person helps the penguins roll over and take the usual vertical position for the bird. The life expectancy of a penguin in nature is 15-25 years or more. In captivity with an ideal content of poultry, this figure sometimes increases to 30 years.

A stunning documentary about penguins. There are game moments and they fit perfectly into the overall canvas of the film. In one breath. Thank you very much. Great movie.
I highly recommend it. 👏
